Saarstahl Aktiengesellschaft receives the “Hilti Supplier Award 2025”
Saarstahl Aktiengesellschaft (Saarstahl) was recently honored with the prestigious Hilti Supplier Award. The long-established Saarland-based company prevailed against a field of top-tier competitors to win in the “Sustainability Excellence” category.
The award from Hilti – an international construction technology corporation – highlights both its trusting partnership with Saarstahl and the shared progress both companies have made toward decarbonizing the supply chain.
Saarstahl has been supplying Hilti with high-quality cold heading wire for many years. Since 2023, both partners have been advancing the ecological transformation by jointly testing innovative solutions for CO₂-reduced steel and putting these solutions into practice. The quality steel with a reduced carbon footprint is produced at the French subsidiary Saarstahl Ascoval using an electric arc furnace.
The decisive factor: Saarland’s “Power4Steel” transformation project
The decisive factor in winning the competition was the pioneering transformation project undertaken by Saarland’s steel industry: “Power4Steel”, one of Europe’s largest climate protection projects. It includes transitioning from coal-based steel production to climate-neutral production of green steel by 2045.
“The Hilti Supplier Award 2025 validates our philosophy of working with our customers to set sustainable industry standards for the future. This recognition also serves as an incentive for us to continue impressing the market with our performance and quality,” said Daniël Nicolaas van der Hout, Member of the Board in charge of Sales at Saarstahl, highlighting the importance of the award.
Dr. Nadine Artelt, Sales Director at Saarstahl, accepted the award alongside her colleagues and said: “At Hilti, sustainability is not merely a goal, but a deeply held conviction. This commitment is precisely what motivates us in our own transformation – and we are proud to be on this journey together with them.”
